Training Requirements

Students are required to complete a minimum of 1200 hours of training, covering both practical and theoretical study through a registered IECAB school. This includes:

  • 600 practical hours in settings such as in-class, salon, or home salon environments, all of which must be documented before taking the exam.

Portfolio of Evidence

A structured Portfolio of Evidence (POE) is required for practical assessment, reflecting the student’s progress and achievement. This collection should include a range of work samples relevant to the skills being assessed. The POE must be submitted prior to both the theory and practical exams and should include:

  • Clear and neat presentation with all original work (no copy-pasting)
  • Photos, record cards, and other relevant documents for evaluation
  • A written paper on the subject area:
    • For Beauty Therapy Red Seal Level 2 and Level 3: Minimum 4000 words

Red Seal Certification

The IECAB Red Seal is awarded to students who pass the IECAB examinations.

Facial Examination
  • Cleansing and skin analysis
  • Eyelash and eyebrow tinting, eyebrow shaping
  • Deep cleansing
  • Electrotherapy (Galvanic, High Frequency, Faradic, Vacuum, and Micro-dermabrasion Level 3)
  • Facial massage, mask treatment, and full-day makeup application
Body Examination
  • Body analysis
  • Electrotherapy (Faradic, G5, and Vacuum Level 3)
  • Manual massage (showcasing five classical movements)
  • Waxing (hot/hard and strip wax)
  • Aromatherapy, slimming treatments, electrical epilation, and reflexology foot massage
